I had previously ordered the single origining Colombian medium roast but it turned out to be much to sour for espresso (to my taste) I took a chance on this "French" roast and I must say it's much more balanced when used for traditional espresso in a mid-level home espresso machine (like a Gaggia Classic, for instance). It's definitely not "burned to a crisp" like some other French roast I've sampled. Towards the dark/medium end of the scale. It makes great espresso and would make a great blend with some lighter roast coffees in order to tame the sourness. Will purchase again.
